A specially-equipped Toyota Land Cruiser Prado LC250 hardtop has quietly arrived in Bangladesh, imported for BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. The SUV finished in white and configured as a seven-seater, was officially registered under the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) with the plate Dhaka Metro-Gha 16-6528.

According to official registration details, the Prado comes with a 2,800cc diesel engine, a kerb weight of 2,790 kg, and a gross weight of 3,085 kg. While the hefty build hints at a high-equipment package, it is still unclear whether this particular unit is bulletproof. Factory-standard LC250 models do not include ballistic protection; bulletproofing is typically performed by specialized third-party firms such as INKAS, Alpine Armoring, or regional certified armorers.

This arrival also follows the government’s earlier approval allowing BNP to purchase two bulletproof vehicles for the election-period protection of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, granted in June and October respectively. Moreover, the Prado was spotted earlier in mid-November at Asian Imports Ltd, located on the Tejgaon–Gulshan Link Road, though staff declined to comment and did not allow photographs, suggesting the vehicle may have undergone or may be awaiting discrete modifications. The SUV’s fitness approval is valid until December 2029, while the annual tax token runs through 1 December next year. With the election atmosphere intensifying, the arrival of this high-spec Prado adds another chapter to the security preparations surrounding top political leaders in Bangladesh, even as the exact protection level of this specific unit remains undisclosed. Importantly, the upgrades in the LC250 SUV include, reinforced ballistic steel in the doors, pillars, firewall and roof. Along with that multi-layer bullet-resistant glass are also added. For security, blast-protection floor plating and run-flat tires are also present.
