Yamaha Makes a Bold Move: New Jog E Scooter Launches With Honda’s Swappable Batteries

It is official, Yamaha just pulled off one of the most unexpected plays in the electric two-wheeler space. Their newly unveiled Jog E scooter, which is designed purely for city commuting runs entirely on Honda’s Mobile Power Pack e swappable batteries. It’s a rare collaboration between rival Japanese giants, but it sets the stage for a smarter, more flexible EV ecosystem in the ev market. The Jog E goes on pre-sale from December 22, 2025. Instead of plugging in at home, riders can simply swap batteries on the go through Gachaco, the shared battery-swap network created by Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and ENEOS. With 42 stations in Tokyo, 7 in Osaka, and more expanding, riders can top up in minutes rather than hours. For those who prefer owning their own power pack, Yamaha says standalone batteries and chargers will arrive in the second half of 2026. Besides, the scooter itself is built for tight, stop-and-go traffic, smooth low-speed acceleration, a lightweight frame, and that familiar Yamaha riding feel. Moreover, it comes in two clean color options, dark grey and light grey, keeping things simple and urban-friendly. Pricing starts at around 159,500 yen (~$1,050), with the battery-swapping subscription handled separately through Gachaco. Yamaha says the Jog E is more than just another electric scooter: it is part of their roadmap toward carbon neutrality by 2050, cutting emissions not just in manufacturing but during actual product use. In a market that is full of plug-in chargers, the Jog E stands out as it offers fast swaps, low cost, and two of Japan’s biggest names finally working together to make urban EVs genuinely practical.
