Vulcan Fastlane Headlights on the talk of the town: RFL the new TVS distributor & how?
Have a brief read on our featured article “What made RFL the new TVS Distributor?” PART ONE

Unknown to many, TVS Bangladesh with registered name as TVS Auto Bangladesh Limited is a joint venture between the TVS Group (India) and Rian Motors Limited (a unit of Sony Rangs group in Bangladesh). The local subsidiary was never a distributor. Yes, you have learned the truth right here!

The subsidiary is owned by the Chair & founder Late Akhter Hossain and later headed by his son Ekram Hossain. The Sony Rangs Group however was originally Rangs group before they parted ways and originally famous for its distributorship of ace Japanese Electronic Brand Sony. However, this Sony Rangs Group also lost the distributorship of Sony in 2021!

As per reports, this JV contract ended on 30th September 2025 after several renewals but both parties denied on renewal on mutual agreements as per reports. As a result, the factory where TVS was produced under Progressive Manufacturing -1 criteria, would still be under the possession of the local subsidiary and so as the huge pile of stock (nearly 70,000 plus unsold).

As per our research and intel information, the management of the local subsidiary weakened after fierce competition from the Japanese Giants Suzuki, Honda & Yamaha and their models lacked innovation, performance and durability like before. Since 2021, the Japanese trio grabbed a combined market share of more than 66% in the market after landslides by TVS and Hero. TVS, once the oatmeal of many bikers and the second leading brand in the market over more than a decade has now experienced skyfall.

As per several intels, the local subsidiary was experiencing a clogged pipeline as their supply chain plans failed terribly. They were piled up huge production stock (over 70,000 units) vs a very poor retail sales of about 2,200 units on average that is 70% less than their prime period. The company suffered huge losses over period, financial pressure from banks, enforced job cuts and gradually started disappearing from the markets. This situation has been there for nearly two years and when the JV saw no lights at the end of tunnel, it finally decided to pull the curtains down.
